Siluron – Ultrapurified silicone oils for intraocular use
Siluron® Xtra and Siluron® 2000 consist of an intelligent mixture of ultra-long molecular chains having a viscosity of 2,500,000 mPas and of short molecular chains with a viscosity of 1,000 mPas. This unique molecular design lends a high degree of elasticity such oils can modify their viscous properties under long term shear stress in the eye, making them highly resistant to emulsification.
Owing to its molecular alignment under the stress of injection:
- Siluron 2000 has shown 34% faster injection times through a 23G cannula than an identical volume of viscosity-matched conventional 2000 mpas silicone oil and injection times comparable to Siluron 1000.
- Siluron Xtra has shown 50% faster injection time through a 20G cannula than an identical volume of Siluron 5000.
