F4H5 WashOut Amphiphilic Solvent

The simple solution for oil residues in vitreoretinal surgery. It’s unique amphiphilic properties dissolve silicone oil efficiently. It removes silicone oil residues and “sticky oil” as well as rinsing silicone oil-polluted IOLs.  Can also be used in glaucoma surgery for clearing Schlemm’s canal from oil residues.

WashOut solution F4H5® won the 2015 Innovation Award – The Ophthalmologist

F4H5® is a semifluorinated alkane that is similar to F6H8 but more amphiphilic, making it a superior solvent for silicone oil. The new WashOut does not form any reactive structures, is biocompatible and also degrades silicone oil even in BSS at any mixing ratios. A key property of F4H5® is the ability to remove residual oil completely, avoiding visual and toxic complications such as glaucoma, inflammation, fibrosis or proliferative vitreoretinopathy. The new WashOut can be used in the anterior segment of the eye to clean IOLs and flush other anterior structures, as well as in the posterior segment to remove residual silicone oil and sticky oil.
